Joeseph Harrison Taylor

JOSEPH HARRISON TAYLOR

Joseph Harrison Taylor was born July 20, 1904 in Greensburg, Decatur County, Indiana.  He grew up in Greensburg and worked on the railroad with his step-father, Smith Bliton.  Later, Smith Bliton and family moved to northern Indiana for railroad work.  Joseph H. Taylor married Iva Ellen Hamilton on May 10, 1926 in Warsaw, Kosciusko County, Indiana. 

Iva Ellen Hamilton was of Scottish descent and born on February 11, 1905 in Leesburg, Kosciusko County, Indiana.  Iva was the eldest daughter and one of ten children of James Franklin Hamilton born May 6, 1883 and Sarah Elizabeth Myers born January 27, 1883.  James died August 19, 1960 and Sarah died August 15, 1964.  Joseph and Iva lived in Claypool, Kosciusko County and Rome City, Noble County, Indiana.  Joseph was employed in foundry work during his later work years.  The Taylors had 8 children between 1926 and 1944. Iva Ellen Taylor died December 28, 1983.  Joseph died March 14, 1988. 

The children are
Josephine Ellen, Franklin Lee, Richard Smith, Sally Ann, Donna Avis, Larry Harrison, Susan Marie, and Keith Alan.  Six of the eight survive as of this writing.  Richard Smith Taylor was killed in action in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.  Donna Avis Taylor Gaby died September 26, 2000 near Kendallville, Noble County, Indiana.
